GEO 地球同步轨道卫星距离地球有 22,000 英里，时延大约 700ms，卫星电视是典型的应用。而 LEO 低轨道卫星距离地球 300 英里左右，时延可下降到 40ms。
对比 700ms 基本上就是简单收发类，而 40ms 或者更低的时延，一些互动类应用就可以跑起来了。
LEO 距离近而且单位面积覆盖卫星数比 GEO 多很多，网络传输带宽也会大很多。
